MWC 2026 Technology: What’s Coming and Why Infrastructure Matters

tecnología del MWC 2026

Every year, the Mobile World Congress offers a glimpse into the future. Much of the technology showcased at MWC 2026 does not reach the domestic market immediately, but it sets the tone for what we will see in homes, offices and shops a few years down the line.

However, something that goes unnoticed amidst all this technological progress, yet is crucial, is the infrastructure of the space where that technology must operate.

MWC 2026 technology: artificial intelligence anticipates

For years, voice assistants worked in a simple way: we made a request and the system responded. But the current evolution is heading in a different direction. Systems are not only reacting, but are beginning to learn patterns of behaviour.

This means they can detect, for example:

  • What time you usually switch on the lights
  • When you lower the blinds
  • At what time of day you use the audio-visual system
  • What times you are usually at home

In well-designed domestic environments, such as those we create at Digital Cinema, this translates into spaces that automatically adapt to the actual usage of those who live there.

Technology moves beyond screens

Another very noticeable trend in the technology at MWC 2026 has been spatial interfaces.

What are they? Quite simply: instead of interacting solely via a flat screen (a mobile, tablet or TV), digital content is integrated into the physical environment. This is achieved through mixed reality glasses, augmented reality superimposed onto the space, interfaces that combine gestures, voice and the physical environment, etc.

Once their use becomes widespread, environmental design (lighting, systems control, audiovisual planning, etc.) will become more important.

A leap in connectivity

Another major topic at the conference was the development of 6G. This technology is not yet commercially available, but is beginning to be integrated.

The aim is to provide networks with greater capacity and zero latency. This will allow the following to coexist in the same space:

  • Streaming in very high resolutions
  • Augmented reality experiences
  • Real-time artificial intelligence services
  • Cloud-based video games
  • Advanced audiovisual systems

The network will no longer be a limitation, but another challenge will arise: integrating all these systems within a single physical space.

The infrastructure of the space

When we talk about technological innovation, we tend to focus on devices or software. However, there is an equally important element: the infrastructure that makes it all work.

If these elements are not well designed from the outset, even the most advanced technology will offer a limited experience. That is why, in home automation and audiovisual design projects, we always work with reliable systems that are compatible with one another. In our case, we only integrate leading brands such as Lutron in Palma de Mallorca.

The technology showcased at MWC 2026 will gradually become part of our lives, but for it to truly work, the space must be designed with a focus on how all these systems will interact with one another.
